EVO 432 History
Founder and designer Frederic Vanden Poel first became intrigued by 432Hz (pitch) tuning in 2010 - after hearing Albums DJ Tiësto was producing at 432Hz. Over the last 4+ years the product range has expanded and seen continual development … culminating in the latest Flagship EVO Master with new matching PSU shown below.
432 tuning is but one unique feature of the EVO range of Music Server Transports.
All Servers offer common functions - refer Specifications.
432 Hz Pitch Tuning :
Historically, various standards have been used to fix the pitch of notes at certain frequencies. The history of pitch tuning goes back over 300 years and has changed over the centuries - from as low as 400 to 450+Hz i.e. for setting the frequency of the note A above middle note C.
An instrument (or today a tone generator), is used as a reference point to set pitch – to which all other instruments (or voice) are tuned for musical scale.
Until the 19th century, there was no coordinated effort to standardise musical pitch and the levels across Europe varied widely. Pitch did not just vary from place to place, or over time - pitch levels could vary even within the same city.
Prior to 1711 this was achieved purely by ear but this is when tuning forks were introduced. But they too varied. For example, a tuning fork associated with Handel dating from 1740 is pitched at A = 422.5Hz, while a later one from 1780 is pitched at A =409Hz. Around 1800 Beethoven used one pitched at 455.5Hz.
Of course, at this time the frequency (measurement) of sound was unknown. So it was not until the 1830’s with the work of German physicist Johann Scheibler that frequencies could actually be measured. The term formerly used for the unit of pitch, cycle per second (CPS) was renamed hertz (Hz) in the 20th century - in honour of Heinrich Rudolf Hertz. Wiki
Pitch tuning still varies today for orchestras around the world. Rock and contemporary musicians are also renowned for re-tuning their instruments - such as Jimi Hendrix and Joni Mitchell’s ‘crazy chords’.
There has been and still is debate regarding what is best. Historically there has been a tendency to ‘tune-up’ (pitch inflation) as this presents a ‘brighter’ sound. Many find 432 presents a more relaxed and natural presentation – but as with all things Audio … let your own hearing/taste be the judge.
There are many ‘Esoteric’ associations with the number 432, which may be of interest but not relevant here.
As with the NOS v. Oversampling, Vinyl v. Digital, Tubes v. Solid State, DSD, MQA, and other Audio format debates - 432Hz Tuning offers alternative choice and may just be ...
N.B. Other products offer 430.5Hz tuning (an option via EVO DSP) but they use pitch shift. The EVO uses rate aka speed shift.

432 EVO ESSENCE
The 432 EVO ESSENCE is a High-End all-in-one music Server created by Klinkt Beter - featuring an integrated DAC with SPDIF output. The 432 ESSENCE features a High-End Soundcard from Asus, which also exists in a DAC version.
The DAC version of this soundcard won EISA Awards - "An honest and compelling sound that puts many traditional Hi-i marques to shame" ! We wanted this technology in our Integrated model. So here it is :

The Analog output (cinch) and SPDIF (Coaxial and Optical via an adapter) can work simultaneously on the 432 EVO ESSENCE. The DAC is based on a PCM1792A and has a very high SNR of 124dB and the clocks are over controlled as in many much more expensive DAC’s.
The PCM1792A succeeds the PCM1792 and is an exact equivalent in functionality and parametrics. The PCM1792 is used in well-known Players such as the Olive 6HD. The 432 ESSENCE can also be connected to a USB DAC and/or HDMI based Audio device i.e. Surround Processor. High End RCA & Coax + Optical outputs up to 24/192kHz with controlled low-jitter clock.
The 432 EVO ESSENCE can also be used as a High-End USB Transport, that connects directly to your USB DAC - but for most the internal Soundcard already present enables high quality replay from one compact unit. Power supply now upgraded and includes SBooster MkII.

432 EVO
HIGH-END & AEON
Both models feature a High-End USB 3.0 interface - which is backwards compatible with any Dac and provides superior sound. Dual Linear Power Supplies (SBooster MkII) are now employed with separate DC rails for the Server and the USB 3.0 Audio board. This is again one step higher than the previous HD-PLEX power supply where both 12V and 9V output voltages required were shared via one Transformer. Now each voltage has a separate supply.
Options : An I2S (Pink Faun) function is available and can be ordered with RJ45, BNC or HDMI I2S outputs (only one of them) - covering the several variations of I2S output – for which there is no standard.
High-End features an integrated clock on the USB output card.
Price : NZ $7,250.00
Au : NZ $6,295.00 Excl. NZ GST
Aeon
Similar to the MASTER but with 2 external Sbooster BOtW Mk11 Linear Power supplies - one for Server and one for USB + Super-clock.
The AEON has a dedicated Super-clock board that feeds the Master clock into the USB3. The Super-clock USB3 receives a dedicated feed from the linear power supply, completely isolating power from the Server. HWBoost is optional - providing more RAM, a sligthly faster board and larger music collections are supported for indexing. A better clock can be implemented which can be enabled from within the firmware.
Price : NZ $8,795.00
Au : NZ $7,650.00
EVO 432 MASTER Reference
A two box Server with 3 separate HWBoost Transformers in the Power Supply Unit. 8 GB RAM + 4TB storage capacity (more optional).
Master has 3 high-end DC cables included for PSU connection
This complete custom design features 3 regulator boards on one big PCB, one for the mainboard, one for Super-clock and one for USB3 card. Custom PCB's and custom back panels with matching enclosures to complement existing Server design. The custom PCB's are designed by Sbooster with a soft on/off switch on the front panel.
The back panel design is by Klinkt-Beter, matching the exact DC inputs on the 432 EVO.
In the Master design, the motherboard, Super-clock and USB 3 card get their own dedicated Transformers, buffers and regulators. Custom double side Gold plated PCBs, better shunt circuits, higher buffer capacity, better shielded Transformers, improved internal and external Silver plated cabling. We also improved the three bundled DC cables with better internal cabling & insulation and high-end sleeves”.
